Hailing from the small area known as Lisbon, North Carolina, Jamie Walker has been no stranger to athletics.  As a child he grew up playing football, baseball, and basketball in the Clarkton Area for both recreation and middle school.  He was a standout fullback and linebacker on the football team at Bladenboro High School.  This was also where the legend of “Coach” or “Coach J-Dub” was born as he returned to his former school, Clarkton Middle and coached football and basketball in his spare time.  After receiving interest from smaller colleges, including one service academy, Walker set sails for North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC, hoping to walk onto the football team.  He failed but kept the dream alive to one day coach.  After graduating from A&T in 2002 with a History, Secondary Education Degree, he took the 5 hour trip to Gwinnett County, GA and taught at Meadowcreek High School for 2 years.  He also coached softball, track, and football while at the school.  While coaching football at Meadowcreek he was blessed to work under current Assistant Head Football Coach at Georgia State University George Pugh, along with coaching alongside Vincent Brown- former New England Patriot Linebacker and current Linebackers Coach at the University of Virginia and Mike Pitts-former Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Tackle.  Walker was able to learn football from some of the very best minds in the collegiate and professional ranks during this time.  Walker relocated back to his hometown to attend graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and while doing so he taught and coached at Elizabethtown Middle School and Clarkton Dixie Youth Baseball.  In 2006, he graduated with a Master’s in Physical Education and returned back to the Metro Atlanta Area.  After a brief stint teaching in Fulton County, he has settled down in Newton County.

Early in his return to Atlanta, Walker discovered what he calls, “the greatest thing ever” when he heard sports radio for the very first time and he knew his ultimate calling.  He is still in education but does sports writing, reporting, PA Announcing and radio as well.  He has written for Score Atlanta Newspaper, GA Public Broadcasting, Chuck, and CBS-Atlanta where he has covered the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Dream, Atlanta Braves, and Metro Atlanta Prep Sports.  He was the Executive Producer for the Sports Kings Radio Show on News and Talk 1380 WAOK and is now branching out independently to bring you his new brand of sports talk.  Walker is married and resides in Newton County with his wife Latoya and his children Aniyah-6 and Landon-1.  He remains close to the coaching profession and brings a balance of coach, athlete, and journalist to the reporting ranks along with being the PA Announcer for Clark-Atlanta University.  We hope you enjoy the brand.  Follow Jamie on Twitter @coachjdub21 and on Facebook under J.
